Foresters Camera club will be running a seminar for those interested in becoming judges or learning to become a better judge. It will be held in two separate identical sessions, each consisting of two consecutive Saturdays in July. The first session will be held on Saturday, July 7th and Saturday, July 14th from 1:00 – 4:00 PM each day, and the second session will be held on Saturday, July 21st and Saturday, July 28th , also from 1:00 – 4:00 PM each day. All sessions will be held at the Vogt Visual Arts Center, located at 17420 South 67th Court in Tinley Park, which is a handicapped-accessible facility.
Material to be covered will include
• what to look for in a photograph,
• bad points and good points in a photograph,
• actual practice judging on photos that have already been judged,
• familiarization with the scoring equipment,
• the scoring procedure,
• critiquing, and many other topics of interest to judges.
We will also be covering specific categories such as Nature, Photojournalism, Alterations of Reality, and others. Experienced and new judges will be on hand to answer all questions, and hand-outs on judging criteria and scoring criteria will be given to each attendee.
If you would like to learn about judging with the intent to possibly become a judge or would just like to find out more about how the judges score photos and you are a member of a south Chicago or south suburban club, then please join us. Seating will be limited to 25 people per session, so pre-registration will be necessary. Registration forms can be downloaded here.
