Must-Have Clamp for Flash Photography

Last week, Stan Kotecki highlighted the usefulness of an off-camera flash clamp. Here is a link to the B&H website featuring this clamp.

• Manfrotto 175F Justin Spring Clamp with Flash Shoe

Club member Jeff Lynch uses Justin clamps quite a bit also. In his experience, he has found that Super Clamps open a little wider and hold on a little tighter. He offers the following links to several products similar to those shared by Stan. You can never have too many umbrella swivels in your grip bag!

How To Use Your Flash More Effectively — with Stan Kotecki

Don’t miss this workshop on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at  7:15 PM

Stan Kotecki, a professional photographer and member of the DesPlaines Camera Club, will share what he knows about  electronic flash.  He will show us his equipment and demonstrate how to use flash more effectively when photographing people and objects.  With over 20 years of experience, Stan works as a commercial and advertising photographer, skilled in shooting both in the studio and on location.  He says, “It’s very gratifying when you are able to add an element of drama to a realistic situation or subject.  To capture an image that makes a viewer pause and take a longer or second look is real success.”

On Wednesday, March 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Green Briar Park Fieldhouse, 2650 W. Peterson Avenue, Chicago, Green Briar Camera Club will host a presentation on how to use special effects in Adobe Photoshop. Our program will feature Bob Benson, former president of the Chicago Area Camera Clubs and winner of many photographic awards.

The title of Bob’s talk is “Photoshop FX – Or: Even Though I Don¹t Want to Take Pictures in the Rain, Sometimes I Like the Effect.” He will demonstrate how to create weather: fog, lightning, snow, rain, rainbows, and realistic reflections using tools in Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. He will show how some images can be altered to an advantage using these techniques.

All are invited to the presentation!
