Raynox Macro Filter test

In a previous post, I listed a product, Raynox Super Macro 250 filter. It is a magnifying filter that clips to the front of your lens. Being only $70 (that’s cheap in camera years, camera years are similar to dog years), I couldn’t resist. So the image here is beyond 1:1, more like 2.5 : 1. Subject is only about 1/2 inch and still didn’t fit in the frame. I did minor post adjustments but no cropping. I took about 8 images, focused 1mm apart with a focusing rail and stacked with Helicon Focus.

But my point is, look how sharp that lens works! Wow, I can’t wait for the bugs to get here (well maybe I can). Going to be a fun summer.

Any one wanting to work on macro or close to it, we could have a workshop. Macro is not that difficult but does present challenges. Also macro means more than getting close to a flower and then cropping. Macro does require some additional equipment but a lot can be done relatively inexpensive (or can get expensive depending how far you take the plunge).
